Registered Nurses: RN-BSN Program Options
The School of Nursing follows the Georgia RN-BSN Articulation Model which accommodates registered nurse students who have completed associate degree or diploma nursing programs and are licensed to practice as a registered nurse. This program option builds on the knowledge and skills of the practicing nurse following completion of the University’s core curriculum (60 hours). RN students who meet GC admission requirements for nursing may be admitted as transfer students to the University in any academic term to complete core courses. Core courses must be completed prior to enrolling in any nursing courses.
Admission to the RN-BSN Option:
Criteria for RN-BSN education specified by the Georgia RN-BSN Articulation Model:
- Acceptance to the University. Call Admissions for the application deadline dates.
- Completion of all core curriculum requirements (Areas A-F) for the nursing major
- Attainment of a core curriculum GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Attainment of a C or better in each of the following courses:
BIOL 2160 - Human Anatomy & Physiology
BIOL 2170 - Human Anatomy & Physiology II
BIOL 3180 - Microbiology
MATH 2600 - Probability and Statistics
ENGL 1101 - English Composition I

Successful completion of the legislative requirements.

Complete application to the RN-BSN Program demonstrating that the RN-BSN Articulation Plan criteria have been met.**
Criteria for RN-BSN education specified by the Georgia RN-BSN Articulation Model:
- Meet the program's admission requirements.
- Meet the program's general education entry requirements (core curriculum for health science majors).
- Hold a current and valid license to practice as a registered professional nurse in the United States.
- Meet testing requirements if applicable.
For Associate Degree or Diploma Degree Graduates of nursing programs in Georgia:
- 0-4 years after graduation requires no testing/no clinical practice required.
- >4 years after graduation with 1000 hours of clinical practice in the prior 3 years requires no testing.
- >4 years after graduation with <1000 hours of clinical practice in the prior 3 years requires testing.

Online Course Fees
All programs that provide at least 95% of a program through On-Line delivery methods will charge a $50 per credit hour course fee. Click here for information about special fees.

Following the Georgia RN-BSN Articulation Plan, each student will receive 30 hours of articulation “K” credits upon successful completion of 6 credit hours in the RN-BSN program.

NRSG 4100, NRSG 4660, and NRSG 4800 include clinical practice experience components that are facilitated by a mentor and supervised and evaluated by the course faculty. Each of these courses includes 40 hours of clinical practice experience per course.
Associate degree nurses will receive 6 hours of transfer credit for their first medical-surgical nursing course taken at an accredited associate degree program. Diploma graduates, not having college credit to transfer to Georgia College for the medical-surgical nursing course will be required to take NRSG 3441, Reflections on Competency-Based Practice. Progression Requirements
To progress through the RN-BSN Program each student must attain a “C” or better in all nursing courses. A student not obtaining a “C” in a course, may repeat that course at the next available offering. Students may repeat one nursing course, but may repeat it only once and may not repeat another nursing course.
Completion of an Eportfolio is required for graduation. Specific information about the Eportfolio is available in the RN-BSN student handbook.
