An information technology (IT) audit is an examination of the management controls of the applications and Information technology infrastructure of an organization. The IT Auditing field includes knowledge of business processes, information security, information policies and procedures, accounting, and compliance requirements. An IT Auditor is involved in developing, implementing, testing, and evaluating audit review procedures. Companies may have internal IT Auditors who make sure processes and procedures are developed and followed, or an IT Auditor may be employed by an external company to audit another company.
