NRSG 3340 Intro to Profession of Nursing

Prerequisite: Acceptance into the nursing major. The discipline of nursing's approach to problem-solving is introduced. The Health Care System, Nursing Process, Communication, Teaching/Learning, Gerontology, and Community-Based Care are the course's focus.

NRSG 3345 Nursing Pathopharmacology

Prerequisite: Admission to Nursing Program. Corequisites: NRSG 3140L, 3240L. This course will introduce the science of pharmacology and consider the role of the registered nurse in the preparation, management, and administration of medications. Additionally the course focuses on the pathophysiology of disease and its relationship to pharmacological interventions. An emphasis is placed on understanding the action of medications, safe administration practices, and competence in drug calculations. The role of the nurse in creating a safe patient environment and in evaluating the patient's response to drug therapy will be discussed as an essential skill.
