Consideration of topics in which courses are not otherwise offered, but for which there is a current need. This course is repeatable for credit.

LENB 6651 Leg & Eth Issues Entrepreneur

A survey of the law of contracts and its impact on agency, partnerships, and the employment relationship. Additional topics include torts, insurance, landlord/tenant, taxation, and business ethics. The goal of the course is not to impart technical legal skills, but to enhance the judgment which students will bring to their responsibilities as entrepreneurs.

LENB 6805 Independent Study

Investigation of a topic of special interest, with reports given to the instructor. Approval of the department chairperson is required prior to registration. This course is repeatable for credit.

LENB 6960 Commercial Law

The laws and major regulations impacting domestic and international commercial transactions are the focus of the course: contracts, secured transactions, business torts, debtor-creditor relations, bankruptcy, business organizations, insurance, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and SEC Acts of 1933-1934. In addition, the necessary role of ethics in business decision making will be examined.
