CHEM 1151 Survey of Chemistry I

Prerequisite: CHEM 1151L. First course in a two-semester sequence covering elementary principles of general, organic and biochemistry designed for allied health professions majors. Topics to be covered include elements and compounds, chemical equations, nomenclature, and molecular geometry. Co-requisite: CHEM 1151L.

CHEM 1151K Survey of Chemistry I

Prerequisite: High school chemistry course with lab, introductory college chemistry course with lab, or college algebra. First course in a two-semester sequence covering elementary principles of general, organic and biochemistry designed for allied health professions majors. Topics to be covered include elements and compounds, chemical equations, nomenclature, and molecular geometry. This online course uses an online delivery platform. You are not required to attend class face to face. The course runs the length of a semester. It is not a self-paced or an independent study course. The instructor will establish the pacing of the course and will inform you of due dates for assignments, discussion activities, and quizzes. This 4 credit hour course includes an off-site laboratory component which you must successfully complete in order to make a passing grade in the course. Course requirements include graded homework assignments, laboratory reports, unit quizzes, and at least one proctored exam that has a laboratory practical component.

CHEM 1152K Survey of Chemistry II

Prerequisite: CHEM 1151 or CHEM 1151K. Second course in a two-semester sequence covering elementary principles of general, organic and biochemistry designed for allied health professions majors. This online course uses WebCT as the delivery platform. You are not required to attend class face to face. The course runs the length of a semester. It is not a self-paced or an independent study course. The instructor will establish the pacing of the course and will inform you of due dates for assignments, discussion activities, and quizzes. First course in a two-semester sequence covering the fundamental principles and applications of chemistry designed for science majors. Topics to be covered include composition of matter, stoichiometry, periodic relations, and nomenclature. Laboratory exercises supplement the lecture material that require the purchase of a home laboratory kit.

CHEM 1212K Principles of Chem II-Combined

Prerequisite: CHEM 1211 and CHEM 1211L, or CHEM 1211K, High school chemistry course with laboratory or introductory college chemistry course with laboratory. College algebra. Continuation of a two-semester sequence covering the fundamental principles and applications of chemistry designed for science majors. Topics to be covered include intermolecular forces, properties of solutions, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, chemical thermodynamics, and electrochemistry. Laboratory exercises supplement the lecture material that require the purchase of a home laboratory kit.
