CBIS 2215 Intro to Computers in Business

Prerequisite: Three semester hours of college MATH and keyboarding skills recommended. This course is an introductory survey of the role of computer information systems. Emphasis is on computer requirements in organizations, history of hardware development, hardware functions, systems development, programming, computer operations, and ethical issues. Introductory level experience is gained in the use of telecommunication systems, word processors, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases. Credit for this course is not allowed if CSCI 1000 or CBIS 1000 has been previously taken.

CBIS 2220 Principles of Info Systems

Prerequisite: CSCI 1000 or CBIS 1000 or CBIS 2215. The course covers the principles of the management of information systems and technology to improve business processes, improve decision making, and gain competitive advantage. Topics include the study, design, development, implementation, management, support of computer based systems, data communications, and information security. Additional special course fee required; see semester course schedule for amount.
