Art B.A. - Art History Concentration

Students primarily engaged in historical research and written arts scholarship should declare this concentration.  Following completion of Area F, media and other upper division coursework in diverse areas of art history, the Art History concentration student will complete their major requirements with a senior capstone.  Seniors will begin their final year with research, development and some production of a new, scholarly work.  Multiple faculty reviews and ongoing mentorship will support this research.  Their final semester capstone will include high production, media relations, and presentation of this thesis under the guidance of their faculty committee.

Major/Concentration Requirements

Satisfactorily complete eight 4000-level classes in Art History. With department approval, ARTS 4960 Internship, ARTS 4970 Practicum or other classes at the 3000-4000 level in Museum Studies, Studio Art, Art History, Graphic Design, IDST, HIST, WMST, ENGL, BLST, MUSC, and THEA may be substituted.  These courses may also be used in the student's cognate area with departmental approval.

Satisfactorily complete four 4000-level classes in Art History, including one non-western Art History course. Substitutions are allowed with departmental approval.
