CHEM 1151 Survey of Chemistry I

First course in a two-semester sequence covering elementary principles of general, organic and biochemistry designed for allied health professions majors. Topics to be covered include elements and compounds, chemical equations, nomenclature, and molecular geometry. Co-requisite: CHEM 1151L.

CHEM 1151K Survey of Chemistry I

Prerequisite: High school chemistry course with lab, introductory college chemistry course with lab, or college algebra. First course in a two-semester sequence covering elementary principles of general, organic and biochemistry designed for allied health professions majors. Topics to be covered include elements and compounds, chemical equations, nomenclature, and molecular geometry. This 4 credit hour course includes a laboratory component which you must successfully complete in order to make a passing grade in the course. CHEM 1212K Principles of Chemistry II

Prerequisite: CHEM 1211 and CHEM 1211L, or CHEM 1211K, or CHEM 1311 and CHEM 1311L. High school chemistry course with laboratory or introductory college chemistry course with laboratory. College algebra. Continuation of a two-semester sequence covering the fundamental principles and applications of chemistry designed for science majors. Topics to be covered include intermolecular forces, properties of solutions, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, chemical thermodynamics, and electrochemistry. Topics to be covered include, but may not be limited to: atomic structure, stoichiometry, concentrations, nomenclature, periodic relations, molecular structure, chemical bonding, chemical properties and reactions. Co-requisite: CHEM 1311L.

Laboratory course to accompany CHEM 1311. Emphasis on techniques and instrumentation essential for conducting chemistry research. CHEM 1312 Principles Chem for Majors II

Prerequisite: CHEM 1311. Second course in a two-semester sequence covering the fundamental principles and applications of chemistry, designed specifically for chemistry majors. Topics to be covered include, but may not be limited to: properties of solutions, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, acid and base reactions, solubility, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and nuclear chemistry. Co-requisite: CHEM 1312L.

CHEM 1312L Prin Chem for Majors II Lab

Prerequisite: CHEM 1311L. Emphasis on techniques and instrumentation essential for conducting chemistry research. Course will also coontinue the focus of scientific writing and documentation seen in the prerequisie chemistry lab course. Additional laboratory fee required; see semester course schedule for amount. Co-requisite: CHEM 1312.
